🚗🎉 Massive congratulations to Matt!

Today Matt passed his driving test! 🎉👏

This one feels a little special.

About 18 months ago, Matt was actually sitting beside me when I passed my own driving instructor test.

Not long afterwards, he started learning with me, but after a few lessons life got busy and he took a break from driving for several months.

Two months ago he got back in touch and decided it was time to finish what he started.

After working hard, rebuilding his confidence and putting in the effort, today he passed his driving test! 💪🚗

A fantastic result and thoroughly deserved.

🚗 Why I sometimes say “not yet”

One of the hardest parts of being a driving instructor is telling a learner they’re not ready for their test.

Nobody likes hearing it.

But my job isn’t just to help someone take a test.
My job is to help them pass when they’re ready and, more importantly, become safe drivers.

If a learner is still making regular serious faults, booking a test too early often leads to:

* unnecessary stress
* extra expense
* disappointment on the day

Sometimes waiting a few more weeks and gaining more experience is the best decision.

A delayed test is frustrating.

A failed test is often more frustrating.

🚦 I’d always rather be honest with a learner than tell them what they want to hear.

🚗💬 1 year after passing…

Victor passed his driving test with me a year ago.

Today he told me:
– no accidents
– only one parking ticket 😄
– around 25,000 miles driven in a year

That’s what really matters.

Passing the test is just the beginning —
becoming a safe, confident driver is the real goal 💪
