This is how Sunday morning greeted me…Lesley!!! Why is my test in 2 days time??!!! 😱😱 Panic Stations!!!!
So we had tried to grab a cancellation for Oliver Hirstle but it didn’t seem to go through. No correspondence from the DVSA until 48 hrs before. Then it was all systems go.
Oli will be the first to tell you that driving tests don’t come easy to him. The nerves always got in the way, even after a perfect pre test lesson, the wobbly leg would take over.
But not this morning!!
This morning Oli triumphed with a fantastic pass and just a handful of faults.
I want to say a massive thank you to his girlfriend Meg. Since you appeared on the scene, Oli has been so much more focused and confident. So you can finally be HIS passenger princess.
Now you can spoil Mum and Stu, Dad, Callum and Meg by repaying them all with the Hirstle taxi service.

So what have I learnt today?…
I have learnt that if you want the best out of Oscar Taylor, catch him when he has been awake for 7 minutes!!
About a week ago Oscar moved his test from November forward to this morning. 8am this morning. Meaning a 7am pick up for his pre test lesson.
So I, for once in my life, actually arrived early. 😱 I messaged Oscar to say I was there, I then messaged again, called him…twice. Knocked on the front door…twice. Woke the dog. Tried ringing mum.
Had decided that if he hadn’t surfaced by 7:40am we wouldn’t make it and he would have to book it all over again.
Then at 7:37am a VERY bleary eyed Oscar slid into the car. Thank you to Darcie for setting her alarm for work which in turn woke him up.
I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t feeling too hopeful at this point, but he’d paid for it, too late to cancel so we said let’s go for it. We hot footed it over to Seamer Rd, banged a couple of manoeuvres out then it was time to go.
By 8:40am Oscar was back, having passed his test with just a handful of driving faults!!!
I was still recovering from the stress and anxiety he’d caused 😭😭
I’m going to miss you Oscar, I feel we have spent a long time together, chatting about gigs, dogs and jobs amongst other stuff.
Now time to get in your Autie’s Corsa and finally let Darcie be the passenger princess.

And bring it forward she did!! We had 7 days to get things in place! 😱
So Operation Driving Lesson Boot Camp began! Rose locked in and we went through EVERYTHING!!
With an almost complete instruction manual written on the back of her hand, we rocked up at the test centre today in the blazing sunshine and off she went.
Soon enough she returned with a fantastic first time pass with just the 3 teeny tiny driving faults!! (Yes, beating her big brother 😉🤣)
Then back to college to collect the law exam result!!!! 🥳🥳
Now just got time to get ready for a fabulous holiday with your mum!!!
What a wonderful couple of days you’re having!!!

Sometimes people just cannot accept they are ready to take their test. They tell you that they can’t do this, and they can’t do that, but if I, or another instructor says you are ready, you clearly are ready!
So filler of donuts Ally Strickland was one of those people today. She panicked all the way around the pre test lesson, telling me that she had forgotten everything, but the only bit she actually struggled with was signing her name! 🤣 so with that, she came back to the test centre with a fantastic first time pass with just 3 teeny tiny faults!!
Ally was a bit unsure to start with though, I had to convince her to get her foot down, but she soon learned to love speed!!! And she really didn’t care too much for the traffic lights at Queen Margaret’s Road, so after she put a call into the council, they closed the road for her!
When she’s not baking a Victoria sponge, Ally likes to go to concerts and spend time with her lovely new fella. And soon he will become your passenger princess when you get Cora, and you can drive off into the sunset together.
So keep making those buns, I’m sure I’ll be passing by to shout random stuff at you over the counter!!

Anyone who knows me will tell you how mornings really aren’t my thing. So when Scarlett Winspear announced that she’d picked up a cancellation, I was really pleased, until she told me it was 7:03am on a Saturday morning!! So I set off at 5:45am to collect her.
A very weary Scarlett came out and off we went on our pre test lesson. When we arrived at the test centre Col was waiting to keep me company with a certain little Schnauzer so Scarlett of course HAD to come and say hello. As Scrappy Doo used to say “Puppy Power!”
because with the aid of Nessie, Scarlett came back with a fantastic pass with just 4 tidgy tiny faults.
I’m going to miss our chats, my chocolate treats, and pack up from your mama!!
No more Charlie and Teo in travel. No more me. What will you do with yourself!! 🤣🤣
Now time to sort a car. Mama!!! Holly!!! 😉
Get yourself driving to work for a fab summer. Enjoy every minute.

Yesterday Lucas Cooper decided to ‘Lock In’.
He waited until the day before his test. Didn’t make me nervous at all!!!!
But it paid off because he came back with a first time pass with just a sprinkling of faults.
Lucas has exceptional taste in music!!
Everything that came on was greeted with ‘Tune!’ So I knew we were going to get on just fine.
Now time to get a car and let Lil be the passenger princess for a change, and no more pumping my bloomin seat up and down for me!!

Kayleigh Holden will be the first to admit that driving tests aren’t her favourite thing in the world.
Today she tried something new, she thought she’d gas out the examiner with the biscuity whiff of fake tan! 🤣 well it worked, as after a fantastic drive we returned triumphant with just a sprinkling of faults.
I acquired Kayleigh from Col, so she had a bloomin good start and I got the easy bit at the end. @
Kayleigh was desperate to get driving before the arrival of her first born, so we were starting to really feel time was not on our side. Every lesson that passed, bump started to get bigger and I was conscious that driving would start getting more and more uncomfortable.
So now time to wave goodbye!! Literally! (She left her phone in my car and rocked up at my house to collect it, and I thought she was missing me already!😭)
Enjoy the rest of your ‘life for 2’ , enjoy your time off with your newborn, and enjoy getting out and about in Harry’s dream machine!!

Another glorious day brings another glorious first time pass with a sprinkling of faults!!
This time for ooooh, Dexy, oh oh, Carroll!!
Dexy was very nervous to start with, there were lots of oohs, errrs, ooohs and oooowwwwws!! But chucking her in at the deep end from the beginning paid off and she found her confidence.
A slightly knackered and worse for wear Dexy - due to Neighbourhood Weekender - got in my car yesterday morning for a last minute refresh. Wasn’t her best lesson but really put her in the right frame of mind for today.
So off Dexy went to work. Or did she. She walked there, got changed, then I picked her up. Turned her phone off and off we went. The lengths people go to to keeping their test date/time a secret!! 🤣
So no more chats, no more appreciation of my amazing playlists, no more gossip!!! Because she doesn’t need me anymore.

Things started hotting up today not only because the weather is finally changing, but because the radiating smile and sheer excitement that come off of fellow curly haired girl Shampson Griffiths’ face as she heard the words “You’ve passed!!” Then joined by tears of joy.
It’s been a long road for Sham. She has had lessons before, a test or two, then a stint of lessons with a certain Mr Simmons before he jumped off of a ladder, and so the poor lass was dumped with me!! She was beginning to feel it would never happen and her son, who is 8 months old, would get passed before her!!!
Last minute panics didn’t stop her today though. A very lucky trip on our pre test lesson around the exact same roads as the test route helped settle the nerves.
Thank you so much for the lovely pressies! How did you ever know that I love Schnauzers!! 🤣🤣
Now time to get out in your very own car, baby seat in the back, and take the little man out on some nice summer drives. You could even take your son too!!

A bit of a late one today as I’ve spent ALL AFTERNOON driving up to Aberdeen to pick up Nessie, The Loch Ness Schnauzer!!
So I picked Evie up bright and early this morning. She was a little shocked when I originally announced I would be picking her up at 7am on a Saturday morning!! But then we got driving, and she realised the roads are dead!!!
So after smashing her pre test lesson, Evie drove off and convinced herself on more than one occasion that today had not gone her way. She cruised back into the test centre and heard the magic words, “you’ve passed” with just 4 tiny little faults too.
So now time to get Elvis ( the Vauxhall Viva) out for road trips with the girls and you’ll also be able to bring the amazing Buzz down for his haircuts now and give mum a break. 😉
