One thing we hate to see if bad workmanship. This SEC was very badly repaired previously, as we dug deeper we found expanding foam and a lot more filler than there should have been. We cut it all out and started from scratch

Get your headlights restored for £150.

We are starting to see a lot of 996/997/991’s coming in with faded headlights. This is due to the UV layer deteriorating overtime and it’s something that polishing just won’t help as the UV layer is already gone. Relacquering is a long lasting repair that will last another 15+ years as we will reapply the UV layer to help keep the headlights protected.

964 kidney bowl rust repair - Rust repair isn’t about hiding corrosion — it’s about eliminating it.

At Autobody Technic, we believe in repairing cars properly, which means removing all affected metal and using repair sections. If repair sections are unavailable then we do have the correct knowledge and tooling to fabricate our own sections. Anything less is simply a temporary fix.

This Porsche 964 arrived with severe corrosion in the sill area, a common problem on these cars due to years of trapped moisture and debris. In fact, it’s one of the worst examples we’ve encountered.

The photos show the process from corrosion removal through to fabrication, welding and primer. The repair has been completed to a high standard and is built to last for many years to come.

We start with making a template for us to fabricate a new repair sill section as this is unavailable

We’re cutting out and looking deeper into the car to discover more corrosion

The affected areas are cut out

New pieces are fabricated and welded into place

Welds are then ground down to make a flat surface for the kidney bowl to sit

Preparing the surface for the kidney bowl to sit

New kidney bowl welded into place

Protecting the kidney bowl with an epoxy primer to help prevent any corrosion in the future

New sill section welded in

Now the structural work is done we start closing it all up, starting with the door shut

Carefully realigned and held into place

Door shut is now welded in

Door shut welds are ground down and the quarter panel is reassembled

Very light skim of fill and finished with a high build epoxy primer ready for final paint preparation

Another one perfected for . Front bumper was off colour, and while we had the bumper off he decided to go for silver grills. Definitely a great idea. The mirrors were black and red, and we decided to colour code those, soft and subtle. And the rear bumper had a few scuffs so we also sorted that out for him.

What an event, this is definitely an event where they care about quality rather than quantity. Saying that they still must’ve had 100+ exotics there. It’s definitely one that we will be returning to each year.
