Replacing your brakes? Why not upgrade them at the same time? 👀🔧

This Mk7.5 Golf GTI was recently treated to a set of VBT hooked rear discs and Mintex Racing pads, a great OEM+ alternative to a standard like-for-like replacement.

The hooked disc design helps clear water and debris from the braking surface, while the Mintex pads provide a performance-focused friction compound. A nice little upgrade without needing to change the original calipers. 👌

And the best bit? The customer ordered everything through our online performance shop, arrived for their fitting appointment and drove away with their new brakes installed. Simple as that!

13 years ago, two lads opened the doors to a little workshop in St Ives… ❤️🖤

Yesterday marked 13 years since Kelvin and David first opened Quattro-Tech, and what a journey it's been since!

From those early days getting the St Ives workshop up and running, hosting our first Revo events and seeing our name in the local paper, to opening Peterborough, Cambridge and, most recently, Bury St Edmunds.

It's fair to say a lot has changed over the years! 😂

Looking back through some of these old photos has been a brilliant reminder of where it all started. The workshops have changed, the team has grown and the business has become something much bigger than those two probably imagined when they first started out.

But one thing hasn't changed – the people behind it all.

From those who've been with us since the early days to the many new faces who've joined along the way, every single person has played a part in getting Quattro-Tech to where it is today.

And of course, a huge thank you to our customers. Whether you've been trusting us with your vehicles for all 13 years or you've only recently discovered us, your support has made this journey possible.

13 years, four service sites and plenty of memories along the way. And we're certainly not finished yet! 🙌

Here's to Kelvin, David and everyone who's been part of the journey.

Coilovers on a T6.1 aren’t just about getting it closer to the ground… 👀

This VW T6.1 Transporter was recently in with us for a set of Bilstein coilovers, followed by a full wheel alignment to get everything set up correctly.

There’s no denying the lower stance completely changes the look of a Transporter, especially when it’s sitting on a good set of wheels. But a quality suspension setup is about more than just reducing that arch gap.

Bilstein have been developing suspension for decades, and their coilover setups combine matched springs and dampers with adjustable ride height – allowing the van’s stance to be dialled in rather than simply fitting a fixed lowering spring. 🔧

And once you’ve changed the ride height, there’s another important job to do…

Wheel alignment.

Lowering a T6.1 changes the suspension geometry, which can alter settings such as toe and potentially lead to uneven tyre wear, an off-centre steering wheel or a van that simply doesn’t feel quite right on the road.

So after fitting the Bilsteins and setting the ride height, this one went straight onto our four-wheel alignment equipment to check the geometry and make the necessary adjustments. 👌

Turns out the ID. Buzz can look even better sitting a little closer to the ground… 👀⚡

The ID. Buzz is already one of the most distinctive things Volkswagen has produced in years, but this one came to us for a few carefully chosen upgrades to give it a completely different stance.

First up, H&R lowering springs. 🔧

Dropping the ride height takes away some of the standard arch gap and gives the Buzz a much more purposeful look, without going down the route of a full suspension replacement.

To complement the drop, we fitted a new set of aftermarket alloy wheels, along with the correct wheel bolts specifically suited to the new wheel fitment. It’s a small detail, but an important one whenever you’re changing from the factory wheel setup.

And then there’s the finishing touch up front… ⚡

None of the changes completely reinvent the van – they just work together to make an already unusual VW stand out that little bit more. 👌

Want more sound from your S3 without replacing the entire exhaust? 👀🔊

That’s exactly where a res-delete comes in.

This Audi S3 was recently with us for a Scorpion Exhausts resonator delete – a relatively simple upgrade designed to give the car a more noticeable exhaust note without going down the route of a complete aftermarket system.

So, what does it actually do?

The factory exhaust uses a resonator to help reduce and refine certain sound frequencies as exhaust gases travel through the system. A res-delete replaces that section with a freer-flowing pipe, allowing more of the engine’s natural exhaust note to make its way out the back. 🔥

The result is a deeper, more pronounced sound, particularly under acceleration, giving the S3 a little more character when you want to hear it.

It’s also why res-deletes have become such a popular first exhaust modification – you’re retaining the majority of the original system while changing one section to unlock a bit more noise. 👌

For this S3, we fitted a Scorpion Exhausts res-delete section, designed specifically for the application for a proper fit with the existing exhaust.

450PS is impressive… but stopping it is just as important! 👀🔴

The B9 Audi RS4 might be best known for its 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 and quattro all-wheel drive, but there's some equally impressive engineering behind its braking system.

Did you know the B9 RS4 comes with huge 375mm front brake discs as standard? That's some serious stopping power, but when you've got a performance estate capable of reaching 62mph in just over four seconds, it's easy to understand why they're needed! 😮

This particular RS4 was recently in with us for a replacement set of front brake discs and pads.

With a car of this weight and performance, keeping the braking system in good condition is especially important. Over time, discs and pads naturally wear through use, and leaving them too long can affect braking performance, particularly when the brakes are working hard.

Fortunately, you don't need to visit the main dealer to keep your RS4 maintained to the correct standards. With over 150 years of combined VW Group technician experience, our team has the knowledge and equipment to look after everything from your everyday Audi to something a little more special like this. 🔧

The car that started the Golf R story… 💙

Before the Golf R became a regular part of Volkswagen’s line-up, there was this – the Mk4 Golf R32.

Launched in the early 2000s, the R32 took the humble Golf in a very different direction, combining its naturally aspirated 3.2-litre VR6 with 4MOTION all-wheel drive. It was also the first production Volkswagen to be offered with a DSG gearbox – although this particular example is the drivers choice and it's Spanish cousin, mánũel. 😎

More than 20 years later, good Mk4 R32s are becoming increasingly desirable, and we’re always pleased to see one come through the workshop.

This example was recently with us for a service and inspection, including fresh engine oil and filter alongside a Haldex oil change.

The Haldex system plays an important role in the R32’s 4MOTION drivetrain, helping distribute drive to the rear wheels when required. Like the engine, it relies on the correct fluid and regular maintenance to keep everything operating as it should, something that becomes even more important as these cars get older.

A fresh suspension upgrade for this Škoda Octavia vRS 👀
