I tried but I failed, sorry 😕.

As many boaters will know, earlier this year CRT closed the refuse point here at Higher Poynton.

One option I have been pursuing behind the scenes was to personally purchase the compound from CRT.

I then intended to organise waste bins, collections, security etc and run it as a not for profit refuse point for boaters. It would mean local boaters could save themselves a trip to Marple or Bosley just by paying a small fee. The compound would have been fully secured with cctv so no flytipping. As the compound would have been kept clear with no flytipping then the contractor would have made regular collections hence no overflowing bins.

Unfortunately today CRT have finally got back to me and confirmed they have decided not to sell the compound.

It's a shame as I believe the scheme would have been extremely popular and provided a local solution to this issue.

The optimist in me thinks, if they aren't selling maybe there's a chance it will reopen!? But I'm not holding my breath.

So I am sorry boaters, I did try but I failed 😔

The past few weeks we've had the privilege to meet quite a few runners who were training to do the Manchester 10k today. Each was running for a great cause. So a shout out to every single person who entered today, we hope it all went well and the shop monkeys all doth their caps.

Thank-you all for your amazing messages of support. I know for a fact our family and friends have read them and we genuinely appreciate every single one.

We hope we did Pete proud today. He loved a pint and loved his food so we made sure he wasn't left out.
