π¨π IMPORTANT DRIVER UPDATE ππ¨
β οΈ Many drivers are STILL unaware of a major Highway Code change introduced by the DVSA and Department for Transport.
πΆββοΈπΆββοΈ PEDESTRIANS NOW HAVE GREATER PRIORITY AT JUNCTIONS πΆββοΈπΆββοΈ
If you are turning into or out of a side road, you should give way to pedestrians who are:
β
Crossing the road
β
Waiting to cross the road
β
Clearly intending to cross
π This means you may need to STOP and allow the pedestrian to cross before completing your turn.
β Donβt rush through.
β Donβt assume the pedestrian will wait.
β Donβt pressure vulnerable road users.
Remember, pedestrians are among the most vulnerable people on our roads β€οΈ
As driving instructors, we are now teaching learners to:
π Look early
π§ Think ahead
πΆ Anticipate pedestrian movement
π Stop when necessary
π€ Show courtesy and consideration
π¦ The DVSA expects learners to understand and apply these rules during lessons and driving tests.
π Highway Code Rule H2 states:
β‘οΈ Drivers, motorcyclists, horse riders and cyclists should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which they are turning.
πΈ Safer roads start with better awareness.
πΈ A few seconds of patience can prevent a lifetime of regret.
π Please like, share and help spread awareness of this important rule change.
