🔧 Poor handbrake diagnosed and repaired!

I came out to this vehicle after the owner reported a poor handbrake. After removing the rear brake discs, the fault was obvious – the friction linings had become detached from the handbrake shoes.

On this vehicle, the handbrake uses an inboard drum setup, meaning the handbrake shoes are hidden inside the rear brake disc rather than being part of the main braking system. It's a design that often goes unnoticed until problems arise.

A new set of handbrake shoes was fitted along with new Discs and Pads, adjusted correctly, restoring a strong and reliable handbrake. ✅

If your handbrake is struggling to hold the vehicle, pulling up higher than normal, or has picked up an MOT advisory, it's worth getting it checked before it becomes a bigger issue.

Customer service goes both ways sometimes! ☕🍰

Turned up to a few jobs on a VW Polo and got treated to coffee and cake served on a tray while I worked. Definitely one of the better perks of the job!

Massively appreciated — it’s little gestures like this that make long days even better. Safe to say this customer has set the bar very high for everyone else now 😂🔧

Timing belt completed on this Land Rover ✅

Cambelts are one of those jobs that are easy to forget about… right up until they fail 😬
This one was replaced in time to avoid any expensive engine damage and keep the customer on the road with peace of mind.

New belt kit fitted with fresh coolant, all running spot on 👌

If you’re unsure when your cambelt was last changed, it’s always worth getting it checked before it becomes a much bigger problem.

This Peugeot 307CC came in as a non-runner after already having an engine fuse box, coil pack and body control module fitted elsewhere trying to cure the no start fault 👀

After proper diagnostics, I found the clutch had failed and broken apart inside the bellhousing, damaging the crankshaft sensor.

With no crank signal, the ECU doesn’t know when to fire the spark or injectors… meaning it was never going to start 🔧

New clutch kit and crank sensor fitted, fault resolved and back on the road ✅

Diagnostics over guesswork every time 👌

🔍 Spot the problem…

Customer came to me after another garage couldn’t find a fault… but it didn’t take long to see what was going on 👀

Snapped front coil spring, That’ll do it 😅

Replaced both front springs (always in pairs 👍) and fitted new top mounts while we were in there — sorted properly, not just patched up.

Back on the road, driving as it should 🚗💨

Another coolant leak sorted 💧🔧

This VW Polo was losing coolant — turned out to be a leaking coolant pipe under the intake manifold. You can see the tell-tale crystallised residue where it’s been seeping for a while 👀

Left unchecked, this can lead to overheating and bigger engine problems… so definitely one to catch early.
