💡🚗🍂🌧☔
How is everyone coping with the challenges of driving in Autumn? Here is another seasonal safety tip to keep you confident on the roads this October.
Check your tyres! This is important year round, but the risk of aquaplaning increases in the wet at this time of year. Aquaplaning is when water builds up between your cars tyres and the road. This means you are essentially driving on water! Your ability to steer and brake become severely reduced.
One way to prevent this is to ensure you have sufficient tread on your tyres - at least 1.6mm on the central three-quarters of the tyre around the whole circumference. This is the absolute minimum before your tyres become illegal.
You should also be checking your tyres for any cuts or bulges in the sidewall and getting garage to help you with any replacements necessary.
