🚨 HOW MUCH OIL IS TOO MUCH?

REVEAL – PART 2

Yesterday, many of you guessed the turbo.

Some were right…
But that wasn’t the whole story.

This Sprinter didn’t fail overnight.

It was the result of months of ignored warning signs.

⚠️ Engine Management Light?
Ignored.

⚠️ Poor running and injector issues?
Ignored.

⚠️ DPF regenerations failing?
Ignored.

The injectors started to lose efficiency, combustion quality dropped, soot production increased, and the DPF gradually became heavily restricted.

As back pressure continued to rise, the turbo had to work harder and hotter than it was ever designed to.

Eventually…

💀 The turbo left the chat.

Once the turbo seals failed, engine oil was forced into the intake system…

…until the intercooler became an oil tank.

And that’s where things become dangerous.

❌ Engine runaway.
❌ Hydrolock.
❌ Destroyed turbo.
❌ Blocked DPF.

🚨 GUESS THE FAULT EP16 – REVEAL PART 2 🚨

We thought this Sprinter only needed a timing chain.

We were wrong. 😳

Once the engine was out, the real nightmare started…

💀 The injectors were seized solid in the cylinder head.

Three injectors needed a heavy-duty extraction tool.

The fourth injector?

It snapped during removal.

Years of carbon build-up, heat cycles and combustion gases had effectively welded the injectors into the head.

What should have been a timing chain job turned into a full injector extraction battle.

⚠️ This is why ignoring injector leaks, black death and combustion blow-by can become VERY expensive.

The longer it’s left…
