⚠️ A worrying find during an MOT this morning

While moving this vehicle from our forecourt into the MOT bay, we noticed that something didn’t sound right. The customer had already been aware of the noise, but understandably hadn’t realised what might be causing it.

During our inspection, we found that the lower suspension arm bolts appeared to be loose. The vehicle had previously undergone repair work, but we cannot confirm how or when the bolts became loose. Please refer to the video for a closer look at what we found.

We cannot say that a failure was imminent, but loose or incorrectly secured suspension components can affect a vehicle’s handling and may create a serious safety risk if they were to move or separate while driving. The vehicle was therefore not treated as safe to continue using until the issue had been properly addressed.

Thankfully, the noise was identified before the vehicle returned to the road.

This is the second vehicle we have seen in a week with a potentially serious fault following previous repair work. Wherever repairs are carried out—whether at a workshop, at home or at work—it is essential that safety-critical components are fitted, tightened and checked correctly.

If your vehicle develops a new clunk, knock or unusual noise, please do not ignore it. Arrange an inspection as soon as possible. If you are concerned that the vehicle may be unsafe to drive, stop somewhere safe and seek professional advice or recovery.

If something does not feel or sound right, please contact us or call in for advice. We are always happy to help. A quick check could help identify a safety issue before it becomes more serious.

🚗 A strange noise while driving? It’s always worth getting it checked.

This customer had recently had their brakes replaced. Afterwards, a strange noise developed, and they didn’t feel safe continuing to drive.

Luckily, they popped in so we could take a look. We found that the front brake caliper hadn’t been tightened correctly, and the bolts had come loose.

If something doesn’t feel or sound right, stop somewhere safe and get it checked. Don’t ignore unusual noises from your brakes. 🔧

Here’s one for you all… spot the difference in these pictures! 👀

One has a brake pad. The other doesn’t. Just look at the damage that’s caused to the braking system.

This vehicle only popped in for us to have a quick look at a noise — and this is what we found. The missing pad meant the brake caliper was making contact with the disc.

If your brakes are making an unusual noise, don’t ignore it. Get them checked before the damage gets worse.
