Before heading to the beach, make sure you check the tide times.

At Wells, the tide can come in quickly, cutting people off from the shore and leaving them stranded. Every year, our volunteer crews are called to rescue people who have been cut off by the incoming tide.

To stay safe:
• Check the tide times before you set out.
• Return to the main beach and dry sand at least four hours before high tide.
• Keep well clear of creeks and channels, which can fill rapidly.
• If you're unsure, ask one of our volunteers or RNLI lifeguards if they're back on duty later this month.

If you see someone in difficulty, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
A little planning can help ensure everyone enjoys a safe day by the sea. 💙

Ahoy, Future Captains!

We’re looking for brave crews to build a raft and take part in this year’s Wells Carnival Raft Race. Rally your friends, colleagues, club members, or family and create a craft worthy of the high seas (or at least Wells Harbour!).

Whether you’re racing to win or simply joining the fun, we’d love to see you on the water. Prizes for winners and best fancy dress 🥇

Saturday 25th July - to fit in with the tides. Meet at the East End slipway by 4.30pm for 5pm start (tide dependent)

Assemble your crew and prepare to make waves (or possibly just a big splash)! 🌊🚣‍♂️

Numbers have been down in recent years so help us keep the event ‘afloat’ by taking part this year

Check the tides before parking on staithes or walking out on the low tide sands, it’s not just your life you are risking!

Please check the tide times before heading to the beach and plan your visit carefully.

The tide can move quickly at Wells, filling channels and cutting people off from the safety of the main beach.

Please make sure you are back on dry sand or land at least four hours before Wells Bar high tide. Do not attempt to wade or swim through channels, as the water may be deeper and faster-flowing than it appears.

Always check local signage, listen for the siren and follow advice from the beach wardens.
In an emergency, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Please help keep our volunteer crews moving.

This morning, parking around the lifeboat station is causing access issues again. We completely understand Wells is very busy, but the spaces and access around the boathouse are emergency service parking and must be kept clear at all times.

Our volunteers can be paged at any moment, and every second matters when someone is in trouble at sea. Blocked access can delay crew reaching the lifeboat, launching safely, or returning from a shout.

We are asking everyone, respectfully but very clearly: please do not park in or block RNLI access areas, emergency service spaces, slipways, gates or turning areas.

Thank you to everyone who helps by parking considerately and keeping access clear for our lifesaving volunteers. Your support really does make a difference.

Please respect Holkham when they are enforcing this on our behalf. ☀️💙
