After years of seeing boats, here's what breaks most often:

💥 Pump-outs (people don't know how to use them properly).
💥 Diesel heaters (dirty diesel, usually).
💥 Water pumps (scale and sediment).
💥 Alternators (overworked batteries).
💥 And seals on through-hull fittings (age and corrosion).

Most of it's preventable with basic maintenance and knowing how your systems work.

Open Day at Mercia Marina on Saturday 27th June, 10-4 ☀️

We're opening the doors to show off our latest arrivals: a stunning new Euro Cruiser widebeam, the 62ft Charleston narrowboat, and our electric narrowboat which will be up and running so you can see how it actually works.

No appointment needed. Just turn up, wander around, and have a proper look at whatever catches your eye. 🙌

We'll have Doug from Water Freedom on site if you want to talk batteries and electrics, and Martin from the Residential Boat Owners Association will be there too. Between us, we can answer most questions.

After you've had a look round the boats, grab a coffee or something to eat - Mercia Marina's got plenty of options.

It’s one of the questions we get asked the most, especially from first-timers👇

Once your offer has been accepted, the process can move surprisingly quickly, but there are a few important steps along the way:

✔️ Deposit paid
✔️ Survey arranged
✔️ Paperwork completed
✔️ Funds transferred
✔️ Handover day!

On average, the process can take anywhere from 2–6 weeks depending on surveys, finance and preparation work.
