Train the Trainer Course

One place remaining on our Goole Train the Trainer Workshop 3 & 4 August 2026.

This is a two-day workshop, and is built around the complete PDI training system that we've developed and refined over many years. It is designed for ADIs who want to train PDIs properly rather than simply pass on information. We look at how to structure training, deliver role-play effectively, use commentary driving, develop instructor competence and build a training programme that aligns with the National Standard for Driver and Rider Training.

Our next Rescue-KIT workshop is in Eastbourne on Monday the 24th and Tuesday the 25th of August. ๐Ÿชช๐Ÿš—

Delivered by Lee Jowett and Charlotte Williams, this 2-day in-car Part 3 & SC Rescue workshop will help you to boost your instructor toolkit and help you to fill the gaps in your development through in-car training.

The workshop will also help you to understand what, why and how to deliver quality CCL lessons and, as a result, help you to pass your next Part 3 or Standards Check. With a resource book and development plan to help you take away and put into practice what you & your pupils need for development and success. ๐Ÿ‘‡

โฌ›๏ธ๐ŸŸฅ We raise the ceiling

All of our award-winning workshops are designed to give you what you needโ€ฆand develop you further.

None of them stop at giving you the answer.

Very few even start by giving one โ€˜answerโ€™.

What they aim to give is understanding and reasoning. Elements that you can actually work with and that facilitate the same development in the learner.

What works for developing young adult learners and why? When to coach, what to coach and why? What even is coaching! When to adapt, how to adapt and why? What difference does it make when you take learning from the known into the unknown and why? Understanding that fixing human factors is not our role, and why?

Weโ€™ve never focused on where the tests sit. They are the floor, we look to raise the ceiling.

In which case delivering quality CCL lessons becomes natural and progression becomes straightforward.

Russell Kebble left this fantastic testimonial after completing the online course, Understanding Your Learner. Thank you, Russell, for such an in-depth critique. ๐Ÿ™ Here is Russellโ€™s testimonial in full:

โ€˜The Understanding Your Learner course is great value and well structured. It is easy to follow and comes with a full workbook and downloads making it easy to reflect and apply the learning to my lessons. The course challenges you to look at things in a different way and has taken how I deal with different situations to a higher level allowing my pupils to become better engaged in lessons.

I have already started to see pupils responding differently and I have a much clearer understanding of why they may do things on lessons. This course was a no trainer for me after attending the standards workshop and the excellent part 3 rescue workshop. I fully recommend them.โ€™

Introducing KIT Reflect.

It's a reflective CPD log built for driving instructors, by people who do this job. You finish a lesson, speak or type what happened, and it keeps a proper record you can look back on. Built around the Standards Check competencies, so it works for your CPD and for Part 3 prep. There's a Basic version for the log itself, and a Pro version that adds AI coaching to push your reflection deeper.

It went live yesterday in our WhatsApp Group.

Here's what a few instructors have said after using it for real.

If you want to get it at the lower price, you need to be in our WhatsApp Group

For years Instructors viewed the Core Competencies as the foundation of teaching. Theyโ€™re essential skills for every ADI and new driver to possess, but they were never intended to be a teaching model. They help us manage risk and respond to whatโ€™s happening in the moment. We help the pupil to develop their ability to understand risk as a result. However developing people is much broader than that.

The K.U.G. Competencies are simply a developmental approach to learning. One built around adult learning, self-awareness and understanding. An approach that aims to take ADI development, and more importantly pupil development, beyond fault identification and towards creating safer drivers.

Known

Every learner arrives with existing knowledge, experiences and beliefs. They already understand something about roads, other people, risk, emotions and decision making. The starting point for learning is to discover what they already know.

When we begin with the known, we arenโ€™t starting from scratch. Weโ€™re building on existing understanding, helping learners make connections between what they already know and what theyโ€™re about to discover. Thatโ€™s how adults learn most effectively.

Unknown

The unknown is everything the learner hasnโ€™t yet understood or experienced. It might be a missing skill, an incomplete understanding or an aspect of themselves theyโ€™ve never reflected upon before.

Our role is to help learners discover those unknowns through experience, questioning and reflection. As awareness develops, learners become more capable of evaluating themselves, adapting to different situations and making better decisions without relying on the instructor.

Gap

Learning takes place between the known and the unknown. Thatโ€™s where development happens.

Some gaps are filled through explanation, others through demonstration and many through coaching. The aim isnโ€™t simply to provide answers, but to help learners understand the reasons behind them and apply that understanding in different situations. As those gaps become smaller, learners develop not only greater competence, but greater confidence in their own ability to think, evaluate and make safe decisions independently.

What should your pupil do if theyโ€™re driving on a single-track road and they see an oncoming vehicle?

A: Stop in a passing place on the right
B: Stop immediately and force the experienced driver to reverse
C: Stop in a passing place on the left
D: Stop and manoeuvre their car onto the verge

Part 3 Rescue Workshop, Ashbourne, 20 & 21 July

Fewer than 3 in 10 pass Part 3.

Seven out of ten walk away with a fail. Not because they can't teach, but because nobody ever showed them what the examiner is actually marking, so they go in guessing.

Then it's another wait. Another fee. And if that's attempt three, you're back to Part 1.

Here's what one ADI said after our very first Part 3 Rescue in Manchester, having already failed once:

"We had an in-car 2-day experience mixed with theory conversation, and we then had a lot of practice. We talked about strategies and discussed things that needed to be understood about Part 3 and how to manage a student, from the competencies to the GDE matrix. I came out the other side, got a Part 3 and passed." Kaz Field ADI

That's the whole point of the two days. Real in-car practice, the competencies and the GDE matrix explained properly, and honest feedback on where you actually are.

Lee and Stefan are running it. Last couple of places left for 20 & 21 July in Ashbourne.

If you're sitting for Part 3 in the next few months, don't be part of the seventy per cent.

These forward-thinking ADIs and PDIs are better prepared for their Part 3 or Standards Check, have added knowledge and skills to their CPD, developed further as Instructors, and learned models to deliver fantastic lessons so that their learners become safe drivers. We wish them every success!

ADI Gillian Fielding left this brilliant testimonial after attending Rescue KIT in Scotland. Proof that the workshop benefits ADIs as well as PDIs! Thank you, Gillian. ๐Ÿ™

Gillian wrote: โ€˜Even as an ADI I find there is always room for improvement. Some of this course I wish I knew as a PDI! Excellent instructors and a great 2 days working knowledge has really made a difference.โ€™
