Defender door repairs - but have you ever seen one finished off with a brand new “water shedder”??

This replaces the old membrane which was ripped and torn, and held together with lots of tape!

Even if work like this isn’t at the core of what we do we still keep our exacting standards 👌❤️

Finding an oil leak isn’t always as simple as spotting where the oil is coming from.

In this case, so much of the engine had become coated in oil and grime that it was difficult to establish exactly where the leak had started. Oil can spread a long way from its source, leaving a much larger area looking suspicious than the actual fault warrants.

The first step was to clean the affected area thoroughly, removing the accumulated oil so we could start with a clean surface. From there, the engine could be run and the area monitored until fresh oil appeared, giving us a much clearer indication of the leak’s origin.

It’s a straightforward process, but an important one. Before deciding what needs repairing, we need to establish where the problem actually starts.

Do you know when your timing belt is due for renewal?

Do you know if any of the parts have been upgraded, and does your garage??

If you have the 3.0L V6 diesel it’s every 7 years or 112’000 miles…whichever comes sooner. And these are the latest specification, strengthened camshaft sprockets - in our opinion a necessary swap when renewing the timing belt.

If you have a 2019 3.0L Jaguar, Land Rover, or Range Rover and you haven’t already had this job done then yours is due for replacement now!

Call 01759 487500 for a chat about options.

Removing a gearbox is usually one of the last steps in a big job…replacing a clutch or an oil seal, even fitting a new gearbox!

However not many jobs *start* with removing the gearbox and get even more involved from there!!

This will be one of those jobs - more throughout the week ❤️

Is your air conditioning not working? Did you get it regassed and it was ok for a while…then got worse again?

If that’s you then don’t fall into the trap again - if your air conditioning refrigerant is low…then why is it low? If you have a leak then where is the leak?

It could be a damaged condenser, a leaking evaporator, even corroded pipework…

Or, you could have this issue - a new one for us! - the end of the pipe, meant to locate the 2 seals was completely missing!

Compare the old and new pipes and ask yourself if a regas would really have helped, or if it would just have been wasted money 💸💸💸

Each of these injectors has four parts that need replacing before refitting - a Teflon seal at the tip, a Viton O-ring seal at the top, a spacer, and a spring clamp.

Thankfully kits are available from JLR that include all the parts required! Now it’s time to remove the old parts, clean up the injectors, then fit the new parts and finally refit the injectors to the engine.

Did you know this engine uses the high pressure fuel rails to clamp the injectors in place??
