Mitsubishi has once again raised hopes of a Lancer Evolution comeback, with company president Keisuke Kishiura saying he wants to rebuild the automaker into one capable of reviving its most iconic performance models. Speaking at Mitsubishi's 57th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, Kishiura described the Lancer Evolution, Galant, and Diamante as important "treasures" of the brand, while making it clear that there are currently no concrete plans to launch any of them. He also expressed a personal dream of seeing Mitsubishi return to the World Rally Championship, although the company must first strengthen its business before committing to such ambitious projects. For now, a new Evo remains only a long-term possibility, but the comments show that Mitsubishi has not closed the door on bringing back its legendary rally-bred sports sedan.
