Mercedes Ignition Problems? We Get Calls About These Every Week.*
One of the most common enquiries we receive is for Mercedes ignition faults. Customers tell us the key won't turn, the ignition won't switch on, the steering lock is stuck, or the key is no longer recognised.
The Mercedes electronic ignition system consists of three main components:
🔑 Key
⚙️ Ignition Module (EIS/EZS)
🔒 Electronic Steering Lock (ESL)
These components work together every time you start the vehicle. If just one fails, the entire system can stop working.
Some faults can be repaired remotely using our *RADE* tool, saving time and avoiding the need to remove any parts. However, if a remote repair isn't possible, we ask customers to send us the key, ignition module, and steering lock.
Once they arrive at our workshop, we diagnose the system, identify the faulty component, carry out the repair where possible, fully test everything together, and return it ready to refit.
We repair these Mercedes ignition systems every week for customers across Ireland, often saving them the cost of replacing expensive components.
If your Mercedes won't recognise the key, the ignition won't switch on, or the steering lock has failed, get in touch—there's a good chance we can help.
