What charming guests we had this week!

It was a big Scandinavian takeover, with our first Norwegian guests including some interiors designers and a few Danes thrown in for good measure 🇳🇴 🇩🇰 and we gave the Norwegians a lend of the luck of the Irish for a great World Cup round of 32 win ☘️

Not to be outdone, Central Europe was out in force too with visitors from Germany and Belgium enjoying a mix of work and leisure 🇩🇪 🇧🇪

EVERYONE ate our new summer special: the Barnahown spinach omelette with Hegarty’s cheddar 🧀

But it was an English man who stole our hearts… by far one of the most charming and discerning guests we’ve had all year: Micky was on a roadtrip taking in Clifden, Mitchesltown and Wexford - from golden coasts to golden vales 💛

Let’s see who next week brings! We love our ever changing chocolate box of guests 💝

Last night we travelled into the heart of the Golden Vale with and deep underground to for a tour like no other.

This unique place - where the three counties meet - between the Galtee mountains and the Knockmealdowns is special to many local people.

Guests often ask why these caves are named after our town and to understand this is to travel back to Georgian times when all these lands - tens of thousands of acres - were part of the famous Mitchelstown estate owned by the Earls of Kingston.

Though many things change, some remain the same: the innovation, energy and vibrancy at the crossroads of Ireland’s greatest counties, in the heart of Munster, lives on 💚

is one of Mitchesltown’s favourite sons because although he lives a fabulous, cosmopolitan life of touring, his heart is never far from Mitchelstown. Be sure to keep an eye on his travels - you never know where you’ll see him popping up next!

These are : full of vibrant communities, world class talent and outstanding nature.

We hope to see you in Mitchelstown soon!

What a pleasure to see Barnahown and featured so beautifully in Ireland's Homes Interiors & Living this month. Be sure to grab a copy - they have an exceptional set of features including one of my favourite topics: murals!

These beautiful images, captured wonderfully by my friend Kirsty Lyons Photography Limerick are the result of a huge team effort with over 50 incredible people: from designers and artisan tradespeople to our amazing construction company and suppliers.

Delivering a big project like this, on time and on budget, to a very high standard needs a lot of commitment and a big team effort. As well as a magic Barnahown project plan!

👩🏻‍🎓 If you’d like to come behind-the-scenes in Barnahown and learn more about the approach we took to ‘Build Your Dream Interiors’, our courses will return in the autumn - link in bio

🏡 Of course if you’d can’t wait until then, we have some limited availability remaining for B&B in June and July

🎥 Location hire in will close for the month of August and re-open in September - limited availability remaining in June and July

You know the feeling: you’ve been out all day adventuring and the last thing you want to do is get dressed up to go out for dinner.

No need! Grab the gang and make a plan for a day of adventures across the Galtees and with a range of history, outdoor wellness and delicious foodie experiences to take your breath away.

Then home to for a well deserved rest. Fire up our complimentary BBQ and following our recipe for the perfect evening:

1. Select the meats of your dreams from our local butchers in Mitchelstown - be sure to call into Hanley’s and Finn’s to see what’s looking good
2. Pop into Kate and the team in for the freshest salads and accompaniments and if you spot Kate’s amazing focaccia, grab it immediately
3. Call to Norma and the girls in for sweets treats - even BBQs deserve a petit four plate!
4. Colm in has the best selection for BBQ pairing - we’re obviously biased and think it has to be but I’ve recently gotten some delicious white and summer rosè wines, after you’ve had your aperitif of course
5. Garnish to taste with rosemary, mint, thyme, lavender and sage from our courtyard garden

Then enjoy a game on our thyme draughts board and lounger area designed by Pat

Because luxury doesn’t mean fancy. It’s quality time, with your favourite people. Eating and drinking the best of our producers. All wrapped up with a sunset soak in the Mountain View hot tub, a chat with the calves and the best sleep you’ve had in ages.

Be sure to pre-book our BBQ spots. In this weather demand is 🔥

Let’s be honest - I mainly hike for the chats and the spectacular views. So when I can get both it’s my favourite sort of day. And it’s why I can’t wait for the week ahead ☀️

I recently headed for Temple Hill accompanied by and if you fancy something a bit different on the Galtees and you’re reasonably fit - this route has views for miles.

The journey starts with a spin through one of the cutest villages in Ireland: Anglesboro. And if you time it right you can call to the local shop for the best penny sweet bags. Remember those?!

It doesn’t take long before the vast fields of and The Golden Vale unfurl before you and the hike takes much longer that it should because you can’t stop looking at ALL THAT GREEN 💚

On our last trip we were lucky enough to spot two young deer enjoying a game of catch on the mountainside.

We stopped at our favourite photoshoot spot and then it was on to the final summit to Temple Hill, to sign the book and take in the views all across the Galtee peaks. For me this is one of the most glorious look-out spots in the Galtees.

Then homeward bound for a well deserved supper from Mary in and a G&T in to round off a perfect day.

This hike is definitely more suited to an experienced hiker with a good degree of fitness because it’s steep from the outset. But if there was ever a motivation to increase your fitness, this is it.

Enjoy the sunshine ☀️ I can’t wait for the week of adventures ahead.

It’s important to us that all guests feel at ease during their stay in so this year it’s been a priority to increase our accessibility features.

It turns out that a building designed with inclusivity in mind makes a better guest experience for everyone. When you come to stay look out for:

💚 Stunning brass features - no hospital white handrails here!

💚 Polished concrete floors provide a low resistance surface for everything from wheelchairs to buggies

💚 Extra wide doors make room for everyone

💚 The sexy pink stairs has double sided rails and a platform halfway - so you can make stop if you need to; and admire the stonework or just catch your breath

💚 Our spacious dining and parlour rooms are easy to travel around, with quiet corners

💚 A minimal design ethos and colour palette helps to calm busy minds

💚 Indoors and outdoors are seamlessly connected with no thresholds so everyone’s welcome for a sundowner in the courtyard

💚 We saved our mural of Dáithí for the best bedroom room in the house: our accessible Bay Lough room

💚 And our multi-height hanging rails and floating desks mean there’s space for everyone to work and play

We hope to welcome you to a sense of ease very soon inclusive by design
