I started The Palanquin with one car. My father stood beside me the day I took it, and sent me off with one rule: every passenger is somebody’s daughter. Drive like it. That rule is why the fleet grew slowly, and why it grew at all. Two cars. Five. Fifty. A hundred.

His daughter grew up. The new Hatigaon office is open, and the name on the Managing Director’s door is mine.

What the rule means for you: the chauffeur waits, you never do. You choose who drives you. Never a stranger.

On my father’s birthday, we didn’t cut a cake.
