A burned 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗶𝗹 on Yamaha Tracer at 142000km. Maybe it's just worn out after so many miles on it. But to prevent this from happening too soon, check your charging system during each service.
1. Running on a old and weak battery for extended period will overload the coils as it struggles to charge the battery.
2. Faulty Rectifier - Monitor the voltage after the bike engine is running. If it is under or over voltage at various RPMs.
3. Corrosion to the wires. That creates more stress, resistance and heat to the charging system.
4. Thermal stress - Running on high temperatures such as extended high RPMs. Low quality motor oil without proper additives to maintain operating temperatures and poor corrosion prevention.
