The clutch isn’t the hard part. Reaching it is. On most cars the gearbox comes out and the engine stays where it is. On the 1992 Lamborghini Diablo the engine and gearbox have to come out of the car together before the two can be separated. Most of this job happens before the repair starts.

Made, not bought. The heater box in the 1970 Volvo P1800 was cut from flat sheet and built up around the radiators. Air conditioning and heating in one bespoke unit, designed to fit inside the limited real estate of the engine bay. The dash and cabin stay original.

What does it take to bring a classic back to life? Come in and see it first hand. The Jowett Car Club of New Zealand walked the workshop with our team, with a stop at the 1950 Jowett Bradford Pickup restoration along the way. More power means more brakes. More brakes means more steering and suspension. The Morris Minor ute has gone from 1100cc to a 1600 twin cam Toyota 4A-GE engine, and Trevor runs through everything that had to follow. One change is never one change.

In 1969 the E and the S got Bosch fuel injection. The T got Webers. They’re coming off the 1969 Porsche 911 T to be cleaned as part of the mechanical restoration. Almost ready for summer road trips.

Wiring rarely gets the credit. Every run going into the 1970 Volvo P1800 is tagged by hand, bundled, loomed and tidied away for good. Nobody will ever see it. Everything else depends on it.

Every Alfa owner knows where to look. The 1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV is in the panel shop for repairs. Corroded metal cut out, new panels fitted and sections fabricated. Fifty-two years of weather has to go somewhere. On a Bertone coupé it finds the sills.

Paul brought his ‘new’ 1965 Land Rover Series 2A to us for a bumper-to-bumper assessment, having bought it already restored. Our technicians reviewed the car and built a repair and maintenance plan that in Paul’s words has ensured his Series “drives better and feels a whole lot safer”.
