Heading away for King’s Birthday weekend? 👑🚗

A quick check before you hit the road can save you a whole lot of stress later on.

✔️ Lights
Walk around the car and make sure all headlights, brake lights, indicators and reverse lights are working properly. A blown bulb is an easy fix but can become a safety issue fast, especially with shorter winter days and wet roads.

✔️ Tyres
Check your tyre pressure and make sure your tread isn’t looking too worn. Low tread and underinflated tyres can seriously affect grip in wet conditions. If you’ve got a 20 cent coin handy, it’s a quick way to check tread depth.

✔️ Brakes
If your brakes are squeaking, grinding, feeling soft or taking longer to stop than usual, don’t ignore it. Long weekend traffic and open road driving put extra pressure on your braking system.

✔️ Battery
Cold mornings are tough on batteries. If your car has been slow to start lately or the battery is a few years old, it’s worth getting it checked before your trip so you’re not stranded in a holiday traffic jam.

Safe travels, everyone 🙌

Smooth driving saves you real money!

Hard acceleration and braking chew through fuel and brakes. Driving a bit more steadily can noticeably reduce your costs over time.

So, keep it steady and your wallet will benefit.

New Zealand has set out for another year to raise awareness of safer driving, promote safety, and encourage community action to prevent deaths and injuries on the road.

We love this initiative and want to spread the word!

With fuel prices climbing, more drivers are tempted to fill up with 91 instead of 95 or 98, but according to the AA New Zealand, that shortcut can lead to serious engine damage over time.

Higher-performance engines are designed for higher octane fuel. Using 91 can cause knocking (early ignition), overheating, and internal engine wear, and repairs can mean a full engine rebuild or replacement.

If your fuel cap or owner’s manual says 95 or 98, stick to it. And if you're not sure what your car should be running on then please pop in and we’ll help you check 🙂

Drivers may first notice sluggish acceleration, rough idling and higher fuel use.
