Imagine being chosen to drive the first passenger train through the City Rail Link. πŸš†

That's exactly what happened to Trent Maxted.

After nine years on the railway, Trent put his hand up for a role that would become part of Auckland's history.

He kept it quiet. Got to work early and made sure he was ready.

Then, as the first passengers travelled through the City Rail Link, he could hear their excitement from the driver's cab.

A month on, Trent reflects on the pride, relief and joy of being part of a day Auckland will never forget.

🫰You lot are out here breaking records!!!

Thanks to you, we've just notched up our busiest month on record, with a whopping 2 million train trips taken in the first four weeks since the City Rail Link launched. πŸš†πŸ’…

It's been amazing watching you all get out and explore your new network, with more people than ever choosing the train.

Whether you're commuting, catching up with mates, visiting family, or heading off on a little adventure, thanks for coming along for the ride.

Now, who's keen to help us set the next record? πŸ’ͺ

Hey Auckland! πŸ‘‹ Double-decker stairs can be steep, so don't rush. Stay seated until the bus comes to a complete stop, hold the handrail, and take care when getting on and off. A safer journey starts with taking your time. 🚌✨

Big news for how Auckland moves πŸšŒπŸš†β›΄οΈ We’re now focused exclusively on operating Auckland’s public transport network. Responsibility for roads, footpaths, parking, transport planning, active travel, and public transport infrastructure moves to Auckland Council.
Sometimes less is more. That's the idea!

We're planning bus improvements across downtown Auckland to keep pace with growing demand.

A new east-west bus corridor along Fanshawe Street, Customs Street and Beach Road will help make journeys faster and more reliable, with upgraded bus stops and dedicated layover facilities for buses and drivers.

With around 15,000 people using downtown bus services each weekday, we're planning improvements to support future growth.

The changes aim to improve connections, reduce bus congestion on smaller city streets, and support lower emissions.
