This will make some people happy, starting from the 1st Nov '26:

4 Year Wofs for new vehicles
2 year Wofs for vehicles 2013 onwards
Annual Wofs for every other vehicle

While this is great... it concerns me that there will end up being a lot of unsafe motorcycles (and cars) on the road. This puts the onus back on the owner to ensure that their vehicle is serviced regularly (annually).

I often find issues during Wof inspections that will lead to the rider likely crashing if we had not sorted out the issues!

Be particularly aware of buying a motorcycle if they do not have proof of it being serviced recently and this makes a pre purchase inspection even more of a no-brainer.

- so often owners quote "the last owner just had it serviced recently" and often that has been repeated from the last owner, and the truth is that it last had a service 6 years ago!

It's on you to make sure every person and motorcycle is safe (and reliable) on the road.

Some of you would have been looking forward to this for a while:

Classic bikes will move to 12 month Wofs from 1st September 2025

'Following public consultation, the Minister of Transport has amended the Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Standards Compliance 2002 to reduce the frequency of Warrant of Fitness (WoF) checks on light vintage and veteran vehicles and Certificate of Fitness (CoF) checks on privately owned heavy motorhomes from every 6 months to every 12 months.

The changes will take effect from 1 September 2025. Timings for WoFs and CoFs issued before 1 September 2025 won’t change.'

Something to consider: Any petrol station in an area that has been recently under water, may have had flood water contaminate their fuel. Consider what fuel stations you're filling up from in the near future!

This 1992 Kawasaki ZZR1100 is up for sale by one of my customers who has looked after it well. It's got about 50,000kms on it and is in very good nick for it's age. It had a service at the beginning of the year and in the last 500kms it has had new tyres, chain & sprockets, rear shock linkage bearings replaced, valve clearances adjusted, new air filter and plugs, new HT leads and brake fluids flushed.
So you'd be hard pressed to find a better buy for a bike of this age. He's selling as he's now permanently living overseas. Let me know if you're interested or if you know someone who might be and I'll put you in touch!
