A decent day on track today, started in our qualified position of 18th and got a good jump on the start but unfortunately a small bog cost us gaining more positions. Coming around the first lap I was P17 and managed to stay out of the first lap chaos. Eventually making my way up into P6 my body was fading fast, apparently trying to break the top 6 is a slope too steep for someone that hadn’t ridden a quad since October. We also got into a collision on our way up to P6 at the end of the straight going into the hairpin, I came into far too hot with a rider in front and we got tangled but got out reasonably quick. Body was starting to fall to pieces so I tried to keep a consistent pace to the finish but was unable to fight for positions being dehydrated and struggling to hang on. We were very close to a podium for the team event, in the final race we needed to finish in front of the competitor by around 2 minutes. I managed to extend the gap to 40 seconds before having to back off so we would actually make the finish. We finished 4th in the team section for Kenny Contest and 12th Overall. A very good result for the first year and with 2x collisions, 2x crashes and bike issues in the qualifying meaning George’s fastest lap was actually his first lap ever of the track. A huge challenge to overcome to compete and do well in this race especially with only two weeks notice of having a quad and entry slot. We had both carried our gear in bags from Lyon on trains, buses and then eventually showing up to the track in a taxi.
We’d like to thank Kellerman Quad training for their amazing hospitality and constant generosity of taking care of us and helping us out throughout the entire weekend. The weekend would not have been possible without Benjo and his team.
We’d also like to thank the Marthouds for the quad and for welcoming us into their racing family for the weekend
White motorsports for their amazing donation torwards our team - a huge help for the contest
We had an amazing time at PDV this year and consider our finish an amazing achievement under the circumstances faced and quite literally no training
