π§ WARNING LIGHT WEDNESDAY π§
This one is easy to overlook β but ignoring it can get very expensive, very fast! β¬οΈ
π΅ COOLANT LEVEL WARNING LIGHT
Your coolant keeps your engine from overheating. When the level drops too low, this light comes on β and your engine is at risk of serious damage.
Common causes:
πΉ A slow coolant leak
πΉ Leaking radiator or hose
πΉ Failing head gasket
πΉ Normal evaporation over time
β οΈ Here's the expensive bit people don't realise:
A small coolant leak left untreated can lead to a blown head gasket β one of the most costly engine repairs around. We're talking thousands of dollars. Catching it early saves you a lot of money!
Signs to watch for:
β οΈ Temperature gauge creeping higher than normal
β οΈ Sweet smell coming from the engine bay
β οΈ White smoke from the exhaust
β οΈ Heater not working as well as it should
β
What to do: Let the engine cool completely before checking the coolant reservoir β NEVER open a hot radiator cap! Top up if needed, but if the level keeps dropping there's a leak that needs finding.
Not sure what to top up with or where the leak is coming from? Pop in and we'll take a look β catching it early is always the better option!
