At 118,000km, inspection of the original ZF transmission pan revealed metallic wear particles collected by the integrated magnets—completely normal, but a great example of why these gearboxes benefit from regular servicing.

While often advertised as “sealed for life”, ZF recommends servicing every 60,000–80,000km or 6 years to help maintain shift quality, reduce wear and maximise gearbox longevity.
