Drop, Cover, Hold — ShakeOut at PCS & Metal Art!

Yesterday, our teams at PCS and Metal Art took part in the New Zealand ShakeOut earthquake drill, practising the simple actions that can help keep us safe during an earthquake.

Taking a few minutes to practise helps build awareness, reinforce good safety habits, and ensure we know what to do when it matters most.

A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped make workplace safety a shared responsibility.

Preparedness starts with practice.

A better way to find every colour. 🎨

Our powder racking system at PCS has had a major upgrade!

What was once a challenge of stacked boxes and time spent searching is now a more organised system, with 700+ colours mapped across 850+ storage locations.

With clearer labelling, easier access and improved stock tracking, our team can spend less time looking for powder and more time getting the job done.

The expected result? A smoother workflow, improved safety and a worthwhile return on the effort invested.

Another practical Lean improvement making a difference at PCS - one change at a time.

Are we producing more than we need?

That’s the question behind this week’s Lean session by The Lean Hub on Overproduction Waste.

Carl Longstaff, Managing Director of Metal Art and Powder Coating Services, gives us a quick insight into what the session covered and why identifying waste is the first step towards improving the way we work.

Small lessons. Better ways of working.

Raising the Bar Again.

Where does quality really begin? Long before the powder is applied.

Our new automated aluminium pre-treatment line is helping us increase capacity, improve consistency and keep delivering the fast turnaround times our customers expect.
It’s a significant investment in our process and in the quality of every project that leaves our factory.
From residential projects to major commercial developments, we’re continuing to build better capability for our customers.

Quality begins with the process.

"While Wellington sleeps, our BS keeps going."

It's midnight. Most of Wellington is asleep. At PCS, we're running our ovens!

20-hour operating days mean your overnight job is actually done overnight - not just promised overnight. It was finished while you slept, ready for you to pick up the next day.

That's our BS. It doesn’t mean “Bad Sleep” for you, it means the Best Service!

A new location. A finish built to last. ♻️

Furniture originally designed and manufactured by Metal Art for the Daly Street community space has now been given a new home at the Petone Esplanade Waterfront.
It’s a great example of how quality fabrication and durable finishes can help public furniture move, adapt and continue serving communities for years to come.
Proud to have played our part in delivering the durable powder-coated finishes that help these pieces stand up to life outdoors.
