I would like to warn you all before getting on a cab please ensure to use a trusted taxi driver.
I, myself have almost experienced an attempt r**e in a taxi between Baruni Dump to Kanudi Backroad.
I was at Gerehu trying to make my way down to St. Mary's Church in Downtown. Before I hopped onto the taxi, I asked the taxi driver to wait for me infront of Gmart while I ran into the shop to grab somethings.
I wasn't thinking as I was running late and would miss the first mass, we took the Baruni backroad as it was the fastest route to Town. We were heading towards the Baruni Dump when I noticed a Grey Camry which had 5 men inside, the Grey Camry turned at the roundabout and started following us behind, the driver kept looking back and forth into the rear mirror and I had a bad feeling that something was up, my intuition was killing me, I was scared to Hell. He hit the brakes when we were at Baruni dump, then I saw a Security Posting truck approaching and he began to pickup speed again. My heart was pounding fast ready to pop out of my mouth.
Out of nowhere the driver starts telling me " Taim yu kamap lo taxi, yu noken usim fone blo yu, yu mas lukluk gud lo taxi na kalap. " I felt in my soul that I was going to die or be r**ed, or even worse - r**ed and butched to death any minute if there was no vehicles on that route. I looked at my phone and the network kept going on and off. I've never been so scared in my life. I tried unlocking my door but it was on Central Lock and couldn't open, I wanted to jump out of the window. I sent my live location to someone closest to me should something happen to me, I asked the driver to slow down as he was running on 180, he kept speeding and repeating for me to put my phone away. Out of terror and fear, I kicked the door open and I jumped off the running vehicle, I fell and scratched my right toe, my ankle and knee. I would have fell and smashed my face or head, I'm thankful and grateful 🙏 that God was with me and gave me the strength to react quick and escape what would have cost my life. I was terrified but I had to be strong, my life flashed before me and I had to make a split decision. I didn't care if I broke an arm or a leg, I needed to get out.
It was better than me being r**ed - scratches and bruises will heal. This caught the attention of the bystanders who came running towards the scene. Imagine if there was no one there at that time, I would've been dragged into the other vehicle and no one would know.
Luckily, the guys from World Health Organization were on-site when this incident occurred and they assisted me and dropped me off to church. I have placed a report at the Town Police Station.
Please, if you come across this taxi. I edge you not to get on. Your life is at risk. Your safety is important.
Below are the pictures of my scratches that I had sustained during the incident.
