ISABANGAN POLICE PILOT PROMOTED TO POLICE COLONEL
Congratulations PCOL Vincent Cris B. Bangwa!
A proud son of Sabangan, Mountain Province, PCOL Vincent Cris Budod Bangwa has reached another milestone in his distinguished career after being promoted to the rank of Police Colonel (PCOL) in the Philippine National Police (PNP).
A proud Kankanaey Igorot, PCOL Bangwa is currently serving as the Chief of the Quality Assurance and Doctrine Development Division, where he helps strengthen police standards, training, and operational doctrines for the PNP.
What makes his journey even more remarkable is that he is recognized as the first Igorot helicopter command pilot and flight instructor of the Philippine National Police. Through his expertise and dedication, he has broken barriers and inspired many young Cordillerans to dream beyond the mountains.
Before entering the police service, Bangwa earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Baguio Colleges Foundation in 1997. In 1998, he began his career in the PNP as a Police Officer 1 assigned to the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-COR).
Determined to further his career, he entered the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) and graduated in 2003 as a member of the SAMBIGKIS Class, earning a degree in Public Safety. He later joined the elite PNP Special Action Force (SAF), where he successfully completed the rigorous SAF Commando Course, earning the prestigious Black Beret.
PCOL Bangwa also established himself as one of the country's highly qualified police aviators. He holds a Commercial Pilot License, Ground Instructor License, and Flight Instructor License issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP). His aviation qualifications include six helicopter type ratings covering both single-engine and multi-engine helicopters, demonstrating exceptional proficiency in rotary-wing operations.
Throughout his career, he has commanded and participated in numerous high-risk aerial missions, including disaster response and humanitarian assistance, counterinsurgency operations, medical evacuations, search-and-rescue missions, and air rescue operations. Beyond flying, he has played a vital role in mentoring and training the next generation of PNP helicopter pilots as a flight instructor.
