This week, June 9-11, Smart Eye is in Detroit for 🚗

One theme connects many of the technologies we're demonstrating: helping vehicles better understand the condition and identity of the person behind the wheel.

From real-time alcohol impairment detection and remote vital signs monitoring to iris + face authentication, we're showcasing how in-cabin sensing is expanding beyond traditional applications.

On June 11, Smart Eye's Albin Ekström will also take the InCabin Exhibition Stage to discuss one of the industry's toughest challenges: developing impairment detection systems that work in the real world while navigating ethical and regulatory constraints.

If you're attending InCabin USA, stop by booth #105 to see the demos in person and meet the team.

What if a vehicle could monitor heart rate and estimated breathing rate without wearables, physical contact, or additional sensors? 🫀

That's what Smart Eye's new remote vital signs monitoring capability is designed to do, using the same camera-based hardware already deployed for Driver Monitoring Systems ( ).

By remotely tracking physiological signals in real time, the technology could eventually help vehicles detect warning signs of sudden illness earlier and support faster assistance when needed.

We'll be demonstrating the technology live at this week, June 9-11, at booth #105.

Our age estimation pilot is getting some attention in Norway. 📰

VG, one of Norway’s largest newspapers, recently featured the project that Smart Eye, Sightic, and Strongpoint are running together with one of Scandinavia's largest alcohol retailers.

The video takes a closer look at how the technology works in practice and explores how it could support staff when deciding whether to ask for ID for age-restricted purchases.

is in full swing in Yokohama 🚗 🇯🇵

It’s already been a packed couple of days at one of Japan’s key meeting points for automotive engineering and technology.

The Smart Eye team is showcasing a range of in-cabin sensing technologies, including production-ready , Interior Sensing, and impairment detection, alongside newer concepts around biometric authentication and under-display camera integration.

Some demos are happening out on the show floor, while others are being explored more deeply with OEMs, partners, and media in our private booth throughout the week.

We’ll be at PACIFICO Yokohama through May 29. If you’d like to meet with the team during JSAE, you can book a meeting here: https://hubs.ly/Q04j8gtr0

Placing a driver monitoring camera directly in front of the driver often creates a design problem: how do you position the camera without disrupting the instrument cluster design? 🚗

At , Smart Eye and Visteon are demonstrating a jointly developed LCD instrument cluster with integrated ( ), designed to preserve both display quality and reliable DMS imaging within a single integrated system.

Integrating DMS behind an LCD display has long been a technical challenge due to poor near-infrared transmission and image distortion through the display stack.

The joint solution addresses those challenges while maintaining display consistency and imaging performance.

Can AI estimate a person’s age in real time? 👀

Smart Eye and Sightic are currently testing age verification technology with a Nordic alcohol retailer. A screen has been installed in the store, where customers can see an estimated age directly on screen in just a few seconds. No images or personal data are stored as part of the process.

This type of technology could potentially support staff when assessing whether a customer may need to show ID when purchasing age-restricted products, while leaving the final judgment entirely to the employee.

The pilot will help evaluate both how the system performs in a real retail environment and how customers respond to interacting with it in-store.

See the technology in action in the video below.

Together, we’re highlighting how can support aviation research and simulator-based training by helping organizations better understand attention, workload, decision-making, and cockpit interaction in complex environments.

Aviation has long been one of the most demanding environments for human performance research, making it a natural fit for eye tracking and behavioral analysis technologies.
