Delval Alfa had their picnic on Sunday. I was lured in by a description of a revolutionary war loop around the Fort Washington state park where the event was held. This is just down the road from Hope Lodge where we go to the Brit car show in June. Militia Hill, Fort Hill, Camp Hill all get their names from skirmishes after the fight at Germantown before the Continental army removed to Valley Forge for the winter. Seemed a good way to spend a Sunday. Bill and Mary had the GTV revved up and ready and John got the Giulia over from Mannheim area to meet us. Unfortunately my normally reliable Berlina refused to start after getting gassed up so I had to walk back to the garage to get a backup steed. The BGT (with final body design by pininfarina- at least some Italian connection) was more than happy to lead his Italian brethren down to Fort Washington. Overcast, but a delightful drive down the Geryville pike and then to Skippack and rt 73 which led us to FW. Drizzle began past Skippack, but until then it was a fine fall morning jaunt. Got to the picnic, saw old friends, made some new ones, but worries about the abandoned sport sedan ( at the gas station) had me hustling back to town without doing the loop. Alfa did groan in to life, likely an issue with the cold start solenoid or thermostatic actuator. I'm thinking it doesn't shut off, so it flooded and fouled the plugs. It was hesitant after it started but seemed to get better by the time I got back to the garage. In the meantime, Bill was busy taking pics, so heres the action.
