A vanishingly rare 1998 Bentley Turbo R400 (1 of 6) finished in Red Pearl Mica over a Sandstone Hide 🇬🇧

Offering more real estate than your average London flat, the Bentley Turbo R 400 has immense presence. Power too, with the handling to match, as well as one of the most sumptuous cabins of its time.

Look at the sweeping lines of the Ford Consul Capri and you’d naturally assume it was a lightweight sports coupe.

Not a chance.

Behind those elegant curves was an astonishing amount of thick, heavy-duty British steel. So much, in fact, that the early 1340cc engine sometimes seemed to be hauling the car rather than powering it!

Dagenham didn’t build a lightweight sports car. They built a rolling British bunker, wrapped it in sleek coupe styling, and sent it out onto the road.

Agility? Maybe not.

But when it came to sheer, unbreakable, heavy-metal durability, the Consul Capri was built like it expected the Cold War to turn hot. 🇬🇧 😄

Well, I’ve seen it all now 😂

🎬✨ When Hollywood glamour met the Spanish desert…

During the filming of Shalako in 1968, Brigitte Bardot didn’t just arrive on set—she brought her own personal luxury.

Her stunning 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, uniquely bodied by French coachbuilder Chapron, had been repainted white and driven all the way to the production base in Spain’s scorching Tabernas Desert.

Bardot famously insisted that her Paris-registered Rolls-Royce should be with her throughout the gruelling shoot.

Imagine the scene: Brigitte Bardot, a white custom-bodied Rolls-Royce, and the rugged Almería desert. 🎥🏜️✨

Now that’s a movie car entrance.

Before hot hatches became a thing, there was the Austin 1300 GT.

Based on BMC’s brilliant ADO16, this little front-wheel-drive saloon combined four-door practicality with a surprisingly sporting character. Under the bonnet sat the legendary 1,275cc A-Series engine, breathing through twin SU carburettors and producing around 70 bhp.

That might not sound like much today—but in a lightweight car with sharp handling and front-wheel drive, the 1300 GT was genuinely entertaining.

Add a black vinyl roof, sporty GT trim, chrome detailing and that unmistakable 1960s British styling, and you had a family car with just enough attitude to make every journey interesting.

The ADO16 family was a huge success, with more than 2.25 million examples produced in various forms and under a bewildering array of badges.

But the Austin 1300 GT was the one for drivers who wanted something a little more exciting.

Small car. Big character. Proper British motoring. 🇬🇧
