Stellantis is planning a V-8 engine variant of the Dodge Charger as the automaker leans harder on the Hemi to win back customers.

The company aims to launch production of the 6.2-liter Hellcat muscle car at the end of 2027 for the 2028 model year, according to a planning document reviewed by Automotive News. The company has informed suppliers that it intends to build around 12,000 of them per year.

The supercharged Hemi V-8 has been rumored for months, but Stellantis has not confirmed it. A Stellantis spokesperson told Automotive News that the launch details are “purely speculation/rumor” and that the company “will not comment on future product strategy.”

After ending production in 2024, Chevrolet’s legendary Camaro may finally be getting another shot. Reports indicate that General Motors has approved a successor, with the next-generation model now reportedly targeting the 2028-2029 model year.

But this might not be the Camaro enthusiasts remember. The new model is reportedly being developed on an updated rear wheel drive platform, with a gasoline-powered engine lineup and the possibility of a high performance V8. Even better, a manual transmission could reportedly remain an option.

Here’s the biggest surprise: the next Camaro could have four doors instead of two! 😳 That would be a massive departure from the traditional coupe that built its reputation battling the Ford Mustang.

Production is reportedly planned for GM’s Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan, but Chevrolet has yet to officially announce the new Camaro or confirm its specifications.
