24 GMC came to us with a god awful noise on startup. Quickly pin pointed it to an exhaust leak coming from the rear exhaust port. Broken bolts on these GMs is still a thing! Extracted the two broken bolts, cleaned up all sealing surfaces and installed new gaskets fastened with Automotive Racing Products Inc.! These bolts with stand the test of time!

Customer brought us his brand New ZR2 because he couldn’t hear it run! We fixed that with a Borla Stainless cat back with black tip to complement the ZR2 package. Now it sounds like a truck but has no in cab drone so it’s a pleasure to drive too!

2019 Silverado in for complaint of hard steering and having to add air every few days to a few tires.

Verified the concern and narrowed it down to the steering shaft. I see this a lot in the rust belt. That u- joint sits in sand and salt all winter long. It causes binding and u-joint failure in some cases. This one was bound in one direction causing the hard steering. I see this simple piece overlooked often. People replace power steering pumps, hydroboost etc. Just something to keep in mind! Lastly fixed his slow leaks with a set of new valve stems, no more annoying task of adding air weekly!

12 LML came in to the shop in reduced engine power and the dreaded Service Emissions/Def quality light.

Initial diagnosis we found the truck hadn’t run a regeneration in several months and several hundred miles. The DEF fluid was nearly 11 months old so i knew right away we were going to have issues with system operation. We chased down the intial code set for reductant tank temperature. The scanner read 228F and obviously it was not nearly that hot. We dropped the tank ohmed out the temperature circuit and confirmed it was a failed sensor. The sensor is internal to the reservoir assembly so it was replaced as a unit. We also drained out the DEF and refilled with 5 gallons of new DEF. Reinstalled the Tank and ran some tests. The next problem we ran into was the DEF pump was not building adequate pressure to perform the leak test needed after component replacement. The truck then set a tank regulator performance code. That regulator is internal to the DEF pump so once again the tank had to come down and more checks be done. Verified the wiring to the DEF pump which lead us to a failed pump regulator. Replaced the pump and reinstalled the tank again, ran the leak test and it all passed. Performed a DPF regeneration to clean out the system and there again ran into the next issue, although no codes set the EGTs weren’t hot enough to burn out the Soot buildup only reaching the 500 degree mark. I suspected a plugged hydrocarbon injector. Removed that and tested and confirmed it was plugged. Removed and replaced the injector and then verified operation when our EGTs hit 1100 degrees. The last step in the process is a reductant quality test to get the lights off. We ran that test and it failed 3 times. This led us to believe we still had a problem and after reviewing the live data we narrowed it down to the DEF injector itself. Once again pull the DEF injector out and did a quality test. It only flowed 10ML in two minutes. The spec is 45-55ml so we knew that was also a problem. Replace that injector and tested the new one 48ml was right in the range so we did another quality test and everything cleared and looked good. There’s a reason I document all our tests!

LML came us drinking coolant, overheating and obviously having excessive coolant tank pressure. Knew right away we had a Head-gasket issue. Tore it down and found the Driver side gasket had a substantial leak. Upon further inspection also found 5 out of 8 pistons had cracks forming inline with the wrist pin. Advised him of the concern and he sourced as a good running replacement engine. We tore that engine down, put all new gaskets in, had the heads machined and checked. We then head Studded it with new gaskets and replaced the water pump and thermostats. Also got rid of the failure prone CP4 for a Exergy Performance CP3. Now this Denali should have a lot of life in it!

Another one in for some rear end support! This Silverado lives with a pressure washing skid in the back. When full of chemicals and water it causes significant squat. We fixed that with a set of Air Lift Company 5000XL bags! No more squat and bouncing! The daily driving will be much more comfortable!
