Lowering boat taxes, headed to the governors desk to be signed!
Taxes:
Boat tax package H.3858 – Exempts 42.8571 % of the fair market value of a boat from property tax, which effectively lowers the current 10.5% assessment ratio to 6%.

South Carolina is one step closer to cutting the highest boat property taxes in the nation, but some are still asking the wrong question.

Right now, boat owners in communities across our state, including Lexington and Richland Counties, are paying thousands more each year than folks just across state lines. That’s not just a tax issue, it’s a competitiveness issue for our state, our businesses, and everyday families trying to stay on the water.

The bill is now on the House calendar for concurrence or non-concurrence on Tuesday, marking the final step before it hits Governor Henry McMaster’s desk.

We’re seeing real momentum at the Statehouse, but the conversation has to stay focused on what actually matters, fixing a broken system that has been pushing boat owners out of South Carolina for years.
