After we install new glass, we'll tell you how long to wait before driving. That's because the adhesive holding your windshield in place needs time to set. Driving too soon can let the glass shift, which affects both the seal and the camera behind it. A short wait now means a safe windshield for years.

Your vehicle's safety system doesn't stop at the camera. Many cars also have radar sensors behind the front bumper or grille. Even a small fender bender or a bumper replacement can knock them out of line. If you've had front-end work done and your cruise control or braking warnings act strange, it's worth a calibration check.

When you replace a windshield, you'll hear two terms. OEM glass is made to the same specs as the glass your car came with from the factory. Aftermarket glass is made by other manufacturers. Both can be good options, but on some vehicles with cameras, it matters. Ask us, we'll explain your choices in plain English and help you pick what's right for your car and budget.

A rock just hit your windshield. Now what! Four quick steps: 1. Put a piece of clear tape over the chip to keep out dirt and water. 2. Skip the car wash for now. 3. Don't blast the defroster on high, sudden heat can spread the crack. 4. Get it looked at soon. A chip repair is generally a quick fix. A cracked windshield may need replacement which takes more time! 5. Stop in to A2 Auto Glass and let us take a look! No appointment required for chip repair!

Got a new windshield somewhere and now you're seeing a warning like "camera unavailable" or "lane assist off"! That usually means the camera behind the glass wasn't calibrated after the install. The good news is it's fixable. We calibrate cameras in-house, even if we didn't install the glass.

Wet leaves get trapped under wiper blades and drag grit across your glass. Over time that leaves fine scratches you'll notice most when driving into a low sun. Two easy habits: clear leaves off the base of your windshield before you drive, and replace worn blades before winter hits.

Many newer vehicles have more safety tech than their owners realize. Automatic high beams. Traffic sign reading. Pedestrian detection. Lane centering. Many of these rely on a camera behind your windshield. Check your owner's manual this week, you might be surprised what your car can do. And if you ever replace that windshield, those features need to be recalibrated.
