Yes, we are back from our week off in honour of Labour Day. Yesterday was a bit hectic being down by one but everybody is back today, looking forward to helping you.

Reminder before we bug out for the holiday. We will be closed for our annual holiday, the full week after Labour Day weekend (5-13 September). While we are still here to answer your calls, any orders taken today will be charged after we return. Certainly, emailed or website orders are the same situation.

On the otherhand, if you are going to ship in your hubs/wheels for us to work on them, this next week is a geat time to pack it all up with a cover letter explaining: who you are, where you are, what's the best way to contact you during the day, what's in the box and what you want us to do with it. Do not include a credit card number.

Looking forward to a little break, we'll be back 14 September to rip those boxes open and hit the ground running.

Please have a great Labour Day weekend while still staying prudent, we'll catch you then!

Edison would say this was a good investment in learning.

Well… the prototype carbon fiber connecting rod BROKE. 💀

And before the keyboard engineers start celebrating like they just won the Super Bowl — GOOD.

This is exactly what prototype testing is supposed to do.

We put a carbon fiber rod in a test engine, leaned on it, found the limit, and eventually the rod said “I’m done.” 😂
You find the limit by BREAKING IT.

Now we know where it failed.
Now we know what needs more material.
Now we know what needs to change.
And now version #2 gets meaner.

Remember this picture, because if carbon fiber connecting rods eventually become normal in high-end racing engines, somebody is going to dig this

As we mentioned last week, Tuan Ly (who headed up our spoke room for 40 years) passed away. On Wednesday, 19 August 2026, we will be closed in his honour to allow our staff to attend his memorial.

Remembering a true cornerstone of our team

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our longtime Spoke Room Supervisor, Tuan Ly. Known to all of us as Lee, he joined Buchanan's at just 19 years of age and dedicated 40+ years to our company.

Lee didn't just witness our company's growth, he helped build it. As a leader, mentor and friend, he lead by example with an unwavering integrity, an exceptional work ethic and a deep dedication to the company. He guided employees with patience and encouragement, inspiring those around him to do their best every day. His impact on Buchanan's will be remembered for years to come.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and everyone who had the privilage of working alongside him. Rest in peace, Tuan Ly. You will be deeply missed but not forgotten.

One step closer to adding another state allowing lane filtering

Virginia S.B. 435 passed out of the Senate by a vote of 32-8. This bill will now move to the Virginia House of Delegates to await further consideration.

Virginia S.B. 435, introduced by Senator Lamont Bagby (D), would amend Virginia Code to legalize lane filtering by two-wheeled motorcyclists. Specifically, the legislation would allow operators of two-wheeled motorcycles to overtake another vehicle that is stopped or travelling less than 10 miles per hour in the same lane, or on the shoulder. The motorcycle operator may not travel more than 20 miles per hour while overtaking the vehicle.

Here in California it has been actually codified after decades of no actual ban. Perfectly legal to split lanes of moving traffic even but now if you’re being a muppet, there are limits an officer can cite.

There’s still only a handful of states that have gotten on board, hopefully more follow.
