https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aV2XLE2rnwA Official Baytown Police Press Release: Major Crash on W. Baker Leads to Officer Rescue of Entrapped Driver
Yesterday, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of W. Baker in reference to a major crash involving two vehicles. While en route, dispatch advised that one of the vehicles was on fire and a female driver in the second vehicle was trapped inside.
When officers arrived, they found a Ram pickup burning, with flames spreading to a nearby fence, tree, and power lines. Just feet away from the burning truck, officers located the second vehicle with an unconscious female driver trapped inside.
Despite the immediate danger and the possibility of the fire spreading, one officer broke a window and crawled completely inside the heavily damaged vehicle to reach the driver. With the assistance of other responding officers, the unconscious woman was safely removed from the vehicle and carried to a secure location where EMS personnel began treatment.
All occupants involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Please remember to slow down, stay alert, and drive responsibly. In an instant, lives can change, and every safe decision made behind the wheel matters.
Last night’s incident is a reminder that our officers regularly place themselves in dangerous situations to protect and save the lives of others. We are thankful for the quick actions of all first responders who worked together during this incident. Thank you for keeping Baytown safe! 💙
