Unpopular opinion: a clean car just drives better. 🤷

We know, we know. It doesn't make sense mechanically. But you get in a freshly detailed car and something just feels different. You sit up straighter. You signal more. You let people merge.

(Okay maybe that last one's a stretch.)

Here's something nobody tells you before you start a classic car restoration: the car you thought you were restoring? It's not the car you're actually restoring.

Once the panels come off and the frame gets a real look, you find stuff. Old repairs done with whatever was lying around. Rust hiding under body filler that was never meant to be permanent. Wiring that belongs in a museum. (Not in a good way.)

We've seen it all. And honestly, that's part of what we love about restoration work. Every car's got a story, and sometimes you don't find out what it is until you're knee-deep in it.

Most people only see their car dropped off and picked up. Here's a little of what happens in between.

Our guys spend hours on prep work alone, because the finish is only as good as what's underneath it. Sanding, priming, color matching, making sure every edge lines up. It's slow, careful work and it matters.

We're not rushing anything out the door. Never have been, not in 70 years.

There's something really satisfying about seeing a car come in dinged up and leave looking like it never happened.

We see it every day, but it never gets old. A customer picks up their car, walks around it once, and you can just see the relief on their face. That's the whole job, right there.

That's still how we run things here at Lentz Auto Body. Same shop, same Belford neighborhood, same commitment, just with new ownership carrying that torch forward.
