***Note: All Class A/B manual transmission students obtain an unrestricted CDL due to MN and WI regulations. All Class A/B automatic transmissions obtain a restricted CDL, specific to automatic transmissions only. We custom each new truck and trailer to meet the standard of the FMCSA rules when supplying equipment that obtains a full unrestricted or restricted (automatic transmission only), Class A or Class B CDL. All tests are taken at a local official DMV in MN by a licensed examiner not affiliated to Class A Leasing and hired by the state.

Our 2016–2026 synchronized manual trucks help students build confidence by learning proper shifting techniques on modern equipment.

The goal is to master the fundamentals first, creating a solid foundation for a wide range of manual transmission trucks.

We are a stepping stone in the CDL journey, and teach the fundamentals needed to become a CDL driver based on the MN & FMCSA regulations.

Exercise 4 — Reverse Offset Backing:

This is where students figure out real quick that the trailer has a mind of its own if you stop paying attention. Small steering inputs. Slow movements. Eyes in the mirrors. Always looking near, far, and side to side.

Don’t chase the trailer — guide it.

Backing isn’t always about looking cool or being flashy. It’s about control, timing, patience, observation, and understanding what the truck and trailer are telling you well before things go sideways.

Good drivers react. Great drivers anticipate.

The reverse offset teaches drivers how to reposition and recover a trailer safely while staying calm under pressure. Miss the setup, rush the correction, or stop looking… and the cones will humble you every single time.
