🤦♂️ The "Glue & Hope" Method vs. Real Diagnostics 🛠️
A new customer brought in a Chevy Trailblazer with a rough-running engine and a cylinder #5 misfire. The culprit? Someone had previously snapped off the ignition coil mounting bolt and tried to "fix" it with... superglue. 🤦♂️
Because this is an inline-6 engine, the broken bolt was recessed deep in the cylinder head, right under the tight overhang of the windshield body. To drill it out the traditional way would have required a ton of labor and teardown.
The customer wanted a more practical option, so we got creative!
Instead of an expensive teardown, we fabricated a custom bracket that bridges across the two adjacent ignition coils to anchor the loose one down, using a bolt and jam nut to apply the perfect amount of downward pressure.
The result? The misfire is completely gone, the engine runs beautifully, and the customer saved a massive chunk of change.
