Some people see an abandoned racetrack. We see opportunity.
Some of the photos show what Greenville Pickens Speedway looks like today after years of neglect. Weeds. Peeling paint. Empty buildings.
The other photos show what it could be with a little vision, hard work, and people who care.
Too many people look at Greenville Pickens Speedway and only see what it is right now. They don’t see what it has been, what it means to generations of families, or what it could become again.
They don’t see race nights bringing people together.
They don’t see local businesses benefiting from increased tourism.
They don’t see car shows, festivals, concerts, charity events, and community gatherings.
They don’t see a historic landmark restored instead of erased.
The difference between these photos isn’t millions of dollars in new construction. It’s maintenance. Paint. Pride. Vision. A willingness to invest in something worth saving.
History isn’t lost because it lacks value. History is lost because too many people fail to see its potential.
Greenville Pickens Speedway still has that potential.
The question is simple:
Will we be the generation that let it disappear, or the generation that brought it back to life?
Hoping the new deal being worked with Kevin Whitaker is our saving grace.
