The earlier sunsets in October can actually work in your teen driver’s favor. If nighttime driving experience is still on the list, fall gives families more opportunities to practice after dark without waiting until late in the evening.
Night driving changes what a new driver has to process. Headlights affect visibility, distances can be harder to judge, and hazards may not be as easy to recognize.
🚗 Practice scanning beyond the headlights.
🚗 Leave more following distance.
🚗 Work on judging speed and distance after dark.
🚗 Check mirrors regularly and stay aware of vehicles approaching from behind.
🚗 Keep practice consistent instead of scrambling for nighttime experience later.
Use the earlier darkness to your advantage. Intentional practice now helps new drivers build experience under different conditions while keeping Convenience,
Flexibility, and Safety at the center of the learning process.
