I’m a teacher, who used your stories to help me save a student of mine!
I want to thank all of you survivors of abuse, for your courageous stories! It is because of you and your stories, that I was able to identify one of my students that was being sexually abused, and I was able to stop it. This is my 21st year in the classroom, and I always want to protect my children. I’ve always known the signs, we’ve done the programs through the years and I always want my kids to know I’m a trusted adult, but I just had this weird feeling. I have a little girl in my class, and she just busted out crying randomly. I’ve only had her a few weeks, but it was just bizarre. After 20 years of teaching, I’ve seen a few things.
I was then told, that little girl urinated on herself in math class. She didn’t even have time to ask to go to the bathroom, she just sat down and cried, and wouldn’t move. The teacher had to help her, and I said “something‘s wrong.” I spoke to the child’s guardian, who told me how her real mom showed up, took her, and then real quick brought her back, and she’s not been the same since. I read your guys’ stories all the time, to pick up clues and tips on how to identify abuse in students. And through your clues, I was able to quickly identify the situation and I was able to quickly call the State DCS, and get her removed. And I’m doing everything I can to keep her a strong, independent female. I just got her a new backpack and a winter coat, for her fresh new start, and school supplies. I just really want to encourage people, to share their stories more. And keep talking about it! Because you may help another person. I helped a girl get away from a predator! Thank you all.
