Here is the first of four Big SouthEast UAS Championship races promoted by Seay HiPerformance. Promoting a race and taking sponsorship money is a huge undertaking. When you receive those monies, the sponsor expects at least some value from it. In addition its important to follow through with good reporting and continue to thank those sponsors in years to come. Why? Because in business, relationships are critical. Dont burn bridges, be humble and respect other tracks and organizations, and work to preserve those relationships as not to splinter the filed of racers you are working with. Below is a writeup from the 2014 race that was posted on Bobs and facebook.
The 2014 Big Southeast UAS Championship lived up to its name. Twenty-Four of the country’s best converged on Liberty Raceway Park to take the title and the $5000.00 to win prize. A HUGE Thank You goes out to the following that made this possible:
Brian Cherry with Champion Oil & Gas, Brian has been an asset to the UAS karting world and has sponsored many UAS racing events this past year.
Ultramax Racing Chassis and owner Chuck Dill are another credit to the UAS. Ultramax has been a continuous sponsor of many events.
Phantom Racing Chassis and Harrill Wiggins are “newbies” to the UAS, but certainly not to winning. It has been said that PRC has raised the bar of the UAS and they are supporting more and more events.
Joe Wright of Dill Fabrication, the industrial side of Ultramax, has been a supporter of Open racing for years.
Mike Yow of Hi-Performance Karting. Mike's knowledge of tires and Open kart setup is undeniable.
Randy Ransom of Track Tac tire products. Randy has consistently supported the UAS since its inception.
Competition Karting Inc., John Klutz is one of the most knowledgeable engine builders in the industry.
Donnie Wheeler Transmission, Donnie is considered as one of the best Unlimited race kart owners in recent history.
Stephen Gleason and the ProKart PK250 racing engines.
Randy Adair Racing
Andy Pritt Racing
Ricky Moore of ExtremeOutlawProMod.com

This is a field full of the fastest UAS karts in the country. Thank you to Tommy Burrow and crew at LRP for hosting this event and doing their best to prepare a fast and competitive racing surface. Also thanks to Charlie Stoffa for acting as Race Administrator. The double file start was attempted one time and the outer groove just wasn’t good enough to support the horsepower. So the drivers and officials quickly decided on a single file start after a red flag which took a few karts out and injured racer Bill Meacham. Bill is a veteran of kart racing and still is a fierce competitor. Get well soon Bill! Even the single file start proved to be a challenge as well. After a few attempts the race went green and the pace was fast and hard. Jerry Mullis and Scott Heath tangled sending these two karts to the rear. However, both were able to fight their way back into the top five. Mullis ripped off the nose wing of his Phantom/Jawa and still managed to get back in the hunt for the top prize. Heath is a newcomer to UAS racing and did a great job handling the BAMA250 powered Wheeler kart usually driven by Chavous. John Decker, a past UAS Champion is always a top runner and his CR250 is one of the strongest in the country. Makayla Stark also battled in and out of the top five finding herself sitting in second right on Yows bumper on a restart. Six cautions mixed and bunched the field up several times as Robby Yow led most of the race. Every caution gave another shot at the #33 Umax and at the end Robby Yow was able to hold off a strong challenge from several competitors.

The 2014 Big Southeast UAS Championship is now history. Like most events, the feature was not void of subjective calls and on track drama. However many racers expressed their enjoyment and the racing was highly competitive and exciting. Thank you to all the competitors!
