The Auto Archaeologist

The Auto Archaeologist Hunting old cars in a variety of neglected situations. Barn Finds, Junkyards, Garage Storage! I've been to them all.

My name is Ryan Brutt, I travel around the country (eh mostly mid-west) documenting cool cars in neglected situations. Be it a Barn Find, Junkyard Find or sitting in someones garage for 40 years, I hope to be there to document a piece of history that is few and far in between.

Thinking back to my first visit to Stephens Performance in Anderson, Alabama.

To say I was overwhelmed is an understatement. I was there early in the morning, and stayed until close and still didn't see it all! So much awesome muscle out there.

Last time chasing the Union Pacific Big Boy for a while. It doesn't get much better then this! I would have been happy if it wasn't nearly 2 hours late. But still

This was a neat 1969 Camaro at our Car Club BBQ today. I never ran into the owner, but sure does look like original paint. Neat driver that's for sure.

The Union Pacific Big Boy Steam Locomotive came through Geneva, IL just a little bit ago. Definitely a cool thing to see moving over the bridge.

This was a killer Dodge Van from Hot Rod Power Tour last year. A true survivor in most cases. Other than maintenance items. I dropped a full video today on all the plans for the MoPowered Tour during the Power Tour this year.

Way back in 2016 I was allowed to check out a private collection of cars in the south. John took me around and showed us everything. Thankfully he doesn't keep much long term and this moved quickly. This 1971 Charger R/T was a 440, auto car with RamCharger Hood. I've seen this car bouncing around the Internet for years.

I was just thinking about how much I miss the old Instagram. Posting pictures from adventures and seeing what my friends post.

Just like this GTO, I uncovered it sitting in a yard in Michigan back in 2016. Thankfully when I went back in 2024, the GTO had been rescued!

This was a complete surprise last year on Hot Rod Power Tour. Just following the route and there was a farm fresh 1970 Challenger. The guy was super cool and let me check it out. Since the video he has fixed all the rusty sheet metal on the car!

This 1968 HEMI SuperBee was rescued from a junkyard years ago, and just yesterday got dropped off for a full restoration! They were even able to find the original, numbers matching engine!

I'll keep everyone posted as it goes.

Dropped a follow up video, with some more in depth info on cars I hadn't notice before from my friend Steve's place. Including a rare 1970 Challenger R/T Convertible, 440 4-bbl, 4-speed car!

On this episode, we're in Missouri checking in on some cool barn find muscle cars. We uncovered several rare Mopar E-bodies stuffed away in the building, in...
