🎃 Halloween Automotive Trivia 👻🚗
Did you know that on October 31, 1925, Ford was producing Model Ts at the incredible rate of ONE EVERY 10 SECONDS?!
Yep -10 seconds. 😳
And that speed didn’t happen overnight.
In 1913, Ford and its engineers developed the continuously moving assembly line, which dramatically changed automobile manufacturing. The time required for final assembly of a vehicle dropped from 728 minutes to just 93 minutes. By 1920, Ford had refined the process enough to produce a Model T every minute of the working day.
Then came Halloween 1925. 🎃
Ford's production system reached its peak, with Model Ts rolling off the line at a rate of one every 10 seconds.
The efficiencies of mass production also helped make cars far more affordable. When the Model T debuted, its price was about $850; by 1924, it had fallen to around $260.
More than a century later, that's still a pretty wild piece of automotive history.
One Model T every 10 seconds.
Now THAT'S scary fast. 🎃👻
