Does “programmed to your VIN” mean your replacement GM engine computer is ready with no relearn?

Not always. Some GM applications still need vehicle-side relearns after installation—even when the ECM is programmed before shipping.

Before ordering, check the exact listing for:
- The correct part or service number
- Any security or crankshaft relearn requirements
- Whether your installer needs a compatible scan tool

Buying a replacement engine computer? Start with the number on the original unit.

Take a clear photo of the entire label, search the part or service number, and review the listing before ordering. On GM units, look for “service no.” or “serv. no.”
