Installing an in-cabin camera is a technology decision. Earning driver trust is a communication decision.
Before cameras go live, fleets should clearly explain what will be recorded, when recording will occur, who can access the footage, and how the information will be used.
A transparent rollout should address:
- Whether footage is used for claims, training, or evaluation
- When audio and video recording are active
- How long data is retained
- What privacy features are available
- How drivers can provide feedback or raise concerns
Features such as facial blurring, audio controls, and remote camera controls can support privacy—but clearly defined policies are what make those protections meaningful.
