How do customers buy vehicle parts now?

SEMA's 2026 Market Report breaks it down:

36% order in the store and pick up or install there.
34% order online or by phone and have it shipped home.
22% order online or by phone, then pick up or install in the store.
9% order in the store and have it shipped home.

That third group is worth a look. The report says online ordering with in-store pickup or install "has seen growth in recent years." Among customers 16 to 29 it's 27%. For ages 60 and up it's 12%.

For body finishing products like decals, wraps and window tinting, 20% ordered online and picked up or installed in a shop.

If you run a shop: make it easy to order ahead, and make the install the reason they walk in.

Do you install it yourself, or hand it to a pro?

SEMA's 2026 Market Report says it depends on the product.

- Chemicals: 75% did it themselves.
- Exterior utility: 57% DIY.
- Exterior body: 53% used a professional, 47% did it themselves.
- Wheels and tires: 69% professional.

For body finishing products (decals, graphics, emblems, wraps and window tinting), DIY installation is 40%. For paint, powdercoating and plating it's 48%.

The report sums it up: installation is mixed, and many enthusiasts do at least some of the work themselves. We make products for both. If you're a shop, you're in a network of more than 4,000. If you're a DIYer, we publish how-to videos.
